Before becoming a cleaner, Alex worked as an administrator in her local school. While she enjoyed the work, she found the office hours and lack of flexibility meant she didn’t have enough time to spend with her kids. She joined the Handy platform in 2014 and since then has done over 300 cleanings for customers in New York City.
We asked her what she enjoyed most about her cleaning work:
“The thing I like most is the customers. When I see how appreciative they are for the work I do.
I’m very proud of what I do, I do what nobody else thinks to do. When I’m cleaning, I’ll take care of all the little details other people don’t think of, like wiping down inside the fridge or cleaning inside the trash can, and they’re like, ‘Wow, I didn’t think to do that!’
It makes me feel good, to see them value what I do.”
